DIY: Cap Keeper

My camera came in yesterday, but since I ordered from Amazon, and not all of the things were from the same seller, not everything came in the same shipment. One of the things I don't have yet is my cap keeper.

I, of course, want to take my camera to the LSU vs. Florida game tomorrow - it is going to be great! But I don't want to lose my camera cap, nor do I want to have my camera at the tailgates/game without a cap. So I decided to make my own cap keeper!

Here's what you'll need:
-- Lens Cap
-- Rubber Band (I used a hair band because it is black)
-- A piece of ribbon
-- Hot Glue

What you do:
1. Cut your piece of ribbon. It doesn't need to be too long, but leave room to connect it to the cap and the band
2. Loop the ribbon through the rubber band and hot glue the ribbon to itself. This way, the ribbon can move along the rubber band, but it is still secure.
3. Hot glue the other end of the ribbon to the lens cap. The lens cap is plastic, so you can always peel the hot glue off with a little bit of effort. I feel safer using glue than tape, especially for a football game.

Now you can take pictures without worrying about losing your lens cap! Happy photographing!

I've Got My Baby Back

Today, after a very long period of anxious waiting, I finally got my camera. Not just any camera. My big camera. I had one all during high school when I was on yearbook - senior year I was editor, so I literally just kept it to myself. But with the end of high school came the end of my access to this electronic beauty. So, I went back to my trusty old point-and-shoot, until it broke, and so did the next one.

But today marks the re-birth of the absurd number of pictures that I post on Facebook. I finally have my baby back, and that baby came in the form of a box marked "Canon Rebel T3i."

Canon Rebel T3i, 55-250 Telephoto IS Lens

Now obviously the quality of this picture isn't the best, but I think it would be a bit hard to take a picture of the camera with itself. So my phone's camera will have to suffice for this post. But from now on, my pictures will  be works of beauty, or at least attempts. I have a book too (see that one underneath the little user manual). Yeah, I was sitting on my front porch earlier reading it and playing with the camera. I'm not a nerd I swear.

Anyway, I'm super excited. Hopefully I'll get some good pictures of the game this weekend!

And again, thanks dad. You're the best!
